Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to provide my own AI API key?
Yes. OpenClaw Linux Installation manages the deployment and upkeep of your instance while you bring your own AI credentials. OpenClaw works with Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, and self-hosted engines like Ollama or llama.cpp for GPU-equipped servers. You will also need platform tokens for each messaging service you connect (WhatsApp Business API, Discord bot token, etc.).
How does the Linux installation process work?
You set up a Linux server through any cloud or on-premise provider and grant us SSH access. We handle the full OpenClaw installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance. All data stays exclusively on your infrastructure — we never store or access it.
What are the minimum hardware requirements?
We suggest at least 2 vCPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, and 20 GB of storage. Running local language models on-device requires dedicated GPU resources. Provisioning guides are available for every supported Linux distribution.
What exactly is an OpenClaw agent?
An agent is a distinct OpenClaw identity running on your server. Each agent maintains its own workspace, memory, and channel connections. It can read files, execute shell commands, control browsers, and communicate across WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, and Slack at the same time. Multiple agents can coexist within a single server deployment.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Absolutely. Plan changes take effect immediately. Billing is prorated automatically — you only pay the difference when upgrading or receive credit when downgrading.
Is there a long-term contract?
No commitment required. You can cancel at any time and keep access through the end of your current billing period.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed through Stripe. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal.
Does annual billing include a discount?
Yes. Annual subscriptions receive a 20% discount compared to the monthly rate.
