The Linux Advantage

Linux runs most of the internet for good reason. Now it runs your AI too.

15+

Supported Distributions

Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, Arch, and beyond. Stick with the distribution your team already trusts — no retraining, no new tooling.

100%

Open Source Stack

From the kernel up through OpenClaw, every component is publicly auditable. Fork it, patch it, submit fixes upstream — there are zero closed-source dependencies.

100%

Root Access

You hold the superuser keys. Adjust firewall rules, tune sysctl parameters, attach block storage, or set up automated tasks — the system is entirely yours.

How OpenClaw Linux Installation Works

From a fresh Linux server to a running AI assistant in under 10 minutes. View pricing plans to begin.

01

Prepare Your Linux Box

Choose any cloud VPS or on-premise machine running Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, or Arch. Just ensure SSH access is available — our automation handles the rest.

02

Select Your Messaging Apps

Pick which platforms your assistant should monitor — WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, or iMessage. Add API tokens and you are connected.

03

Activate Your Assistant

OpenClaw boots up on your hardware. Conversations stay on your disk, memory persists between sessions, and you hold the root password.

OpenClaw Linux Installation Features

A complete toolkit for running and managing a private AI assistant on Linux hardware you control.

Linux-Native Deployment

Installs directly on Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, CentOS, Arch, or any systemd-compatible distribution without virtualization overhead.

Unified Messaging Hub

Bridges WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, and iMessage under one assistant that shares context between all of them.

Contextual Memory Engine

Stores interaction history locally so your assistant recalls past discussions, user preferences, and project notes across every session.

Root-Level Control

Read and write files, run shell scripts, drive a headless browser, and schedule cron jobs — all triggered from a chat message.

Zero-Trust Privacy

All processing happens on your server in the jurisdiction you choose. No telemetry, no cloud relay, no third-party data access.

Modular Skill System

Install community-made plugins from the skill registry or let your assistant author new ones on the fly to fit your workflow.

OpenClaw Linux Installation Integrations

Connect your assistant to the chat apps your team already uses. Context and memory flow seamlessly between every channel.

OpenClaw Linux Installation
FAQ

Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Still stuck? Drop us a message.

What exactly is OpenClaw Linux Installation?

It is a managed service that installs, configures, and maintains the open-source OpenClaw AI assistant on a Linux server you own. OpenClaw connects to WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, and iMessage while keeping all data on your machine. We handle the infrastructure work so you can focus on using the assistant.

Which Linux distributions are supported?

Ubuntu 22.04 and newer, Debian 12 and newer, Fedora 39 and newer, CentOS Stream 9, and Arch Linux are officially tested. Any modern distribution with systemd and Docker or Podman available will work. See our features page for the full list.

What server specifications does OpenClaw need?

A baseline of two CPU cores and four gigabytes of RAM covers most use cases. If you plan to host local language models through Ollama, four cores and eight gigabytes is a better starting point. Check our pricing page for provider recommendations.

Do I need to supply my own AI API keys?

Yes. You can connect your Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter key for cloud-hosted models, or run open-weight models locally via Ollama with no external calls at all. Details are on our features page.

How does the installation process work?

After subscribing, you share SSH credentials for your Linux server. Our tooling connects, installs OpenClaw and its dependencies, wires up the messaging platforms you selected, and verifies everything is running. The whole procedure finishes in roughly ten minutes without manual steps.

How is my data protected?

Your data never leaves the server you provide. We do not proxy, cache, or log your conversations, files, or AI prompts. You manage your own encryption keys, firewall rules, and backup schedule.

Can I run local AI models on my server?

Yes. OpenClaw integrates with Ollama, so you can load Llama, Mistral, Phi, Gemma, or other open-weight models and run inference entirely on your hardware. Visit our integrations page for platform specifics.

Which messaging platforms does OpenClaw connect to?

Currently supported: WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, and iMessage. Microsoft Teams and Matrix are planned. Memory is shared across all connected channels. See our integrations page for per-platform details.
